Annual Meeting Q & A

There were many factors that were discussed as part of the decision making process.  The final decision on the annual meeting had to be made by the beginning of March for the purpose of planning and meeting deadline requirements.  In March, we were unsure of the restrictions or precautions that would be in place by the scheduled June meeting.  How would we social distance over 700 members in the Richland County Event Center?  Would we need to wear masks?  If so, how could we enforce this? How could we provide dinner?  If we did provide dinner the meals would have to be prepackaged.   LYREC was also concerned with the demographics of the members who attend the annual meeting, as a majority of them are in the high risk category.  Regardless of anyone's views on the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to follow the direction given by our national organization along with the local, state, and federal agencies.  LYREC's main concern is the well being of our member's, we are simply not comfortable with putting our members health in jeopardy at this time.
