Before You Dig

Many homes and businesses have a combination of underground utilities located in their yards, such as electricity, water, telephone and cable TV. The location of the utilities are very important when performing landscaping or digging in your yard or business. To locate utility lines, all you need to do is make one call. More one call locating info:

  • Simply dial 811.  It will connect you to the call center for the state you are calling from.   Lines are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Be prepared to pinpoint the location of your dig site with exact street address and directions, or township, range, section and quarter section.
  • You will need to describe the type of work to be done and some detail as to where you are working on the site.

Call at least 48 hours before you dig. You can be held liable for damage to underground equipment if you do not call before you dig!
